Am Grateful To Allah At 73 - Ojora-Iganmu Kingdom
The Ojora of Ijora Iganmu kingdom Lagos State, His Royal Majesty Oba Abdulfatai Aromire has expressed gratitude to Allah as he celebrates 73 birthday anniversary.
In a brief interview the traditional ruler spoke on his experiences over the years stating that, he has the cause to appreciate Allah. Excerpts:
Q: Kabiyesi: what has been your experience in the last 73 years?
A: I give all the glory to Allah because life is full of challenges but Allah has given us the strength to overcome all these challenges therefore we have the grace to bless His name.
I emerged as a Royal father thirty-one years ago and since then I have been able to protect the interest of my people attracting infrastructures which has improved the quality of life.
Through committed efforts, road networks were reconstructed, our health centre was formerly in a deplorable condition but were re-roof it re equipped it with modern day facilities so that our people can have access to medical care.
Scholarship were given to pupils that are less privileged to fulfill their destiny while we took a step further by synergizing with companies around our us so that our youths can productively be engaged.
This has eventually reduce crime rates by removing the youths from the street to contribute in no small measure towards the economic development of the state, non-indigenes were not left out of our programs, they benefited greatly and we maintained cordial relationship in my domain.
Above all we will continue to strive for excellence and pursue ideas and innovation that will enhance the potentials of the people.
Q: Kabieyesi is there any event you will not forget in a hurry in the last 73 years?
A: There was a time I have some health challenges and some people felt the situation was chosen but Allah restored me and further add more years to my journey on earth, it is not by power but I am only enjoying the grace of Allah,
God is the Supreme Being, he is the only one that can give liberty to us to continue to exist on earth.
Q: Kabiyesi what are your expectations from the state government ?
A: Improved infrastructures, here in Ijora, we have the challenges of flooding and we will appreciate if the government can look inward and find a lasting solution to this challenge and we also need additional Public schools in my domains, as the population increases, the government should endeavour to establish additional public schools so that our people will not need to travel long distance before they can access qualitative education.
Q: Alayeluwa, do you intend to buy a Rolls Royce to mark your 73 birthday
A: I am not interested in buying that, I bought one few years ago and I am not interested in buying another one.
My focus is to protect the interest of my people, preserve our culture and tradition and also mentor upcoming ones to a higher pedestal, being a royal father we will continue to preach peace among our people and advice them to be law abiding at all times.
Q: Kabiyesi insecurity is a challenge facing Nigeria what are your recommendations?
A: Community policing, every community in Nigeria should be constitutionally empower the police in their community, because bandit and terrorist are not ghosts they live among the people within the community.
The people also need to give the security agencies the much needed information that will help them to flush out criminal elements in our society with this, Nigerian will be able to sleep with their two eyes closed.
